Shangri-La opens Traders Hotel in HK

Hong Kong welcomes the first Traders property in Hong Kong as Jen Hotel,

which is being rebranded as Traders Hotel Hong Kong on August 1, 2010. Other than providing a new and expanded selection of programmes, services and facilities, Traders hotels are known for their prime locations in major business centres in Asia and the Middle East as well as offering value stays. Location of the hotel is within easy reach of Central, Lan Kwai Fong and Soho.

HKCEC's Second Expansion Completed

The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) was the proud recipient of the Grand Award in the non-residential category of Quality Building Award (QBA) 2010 for its second expansion.

Completed in April 2009, the second expansion has added almost 20,000 sqm of additional exhibition space to the Centre, increasing the total rentable area to 91,500 sqm. All of this additional space was created by a new, top down structure that linked phase 1 (completed in 1988) and phase 2 (completed in 1997), over the 87 m wide water channel.

The second expansion has made it possible for HKCEC to accommodate growing recurrent exhibitions, and to welcome new ones. Since its completion 14 months ago, already 12 tenancies have used all available purpose-built exhibition space and eight new exhibitions are scheduled in 2010.

Delta launches non-stop Detroit - Hong Kong service

June 2010 - Delta Air Lines launches its Hong Kong-Detroit non-stop service, featuring lie-flat beds in its BusinessElite cabin

A Boeing B777-200LR aircraft with 45 BusinessElite seats and 233 Economy Class seats is used on the route.

Last week, the US carrier launched the the Hongkong-Detroit and Beijing-Seattle non-stop services, which connects Hong Kong to 129 destinations from Detroit.

Increased direct airlift is always great news for our destinations and our clients - and lie-flat beds make it all the better!

Cathay Pacific to launch Premium Economy Class

MICE groups travelling to Hong Kong and beyond will, in the future be able to take advantage of a new Premium Economy product on Cathay Pacific Airways, (CX) creating a fourth class in cabins across its network.

In such altered business conditions, a Premium Economy cabin will appeal to clients looking to trade down from Business Class for their group travel, as well as those wanting to trade up from Economy.

The new seats will be rolled out in 2012 to compete with British Airways and Qantas Airlines, which already feature the popular cabin class.

So What's New in 2010?

For a real incentive ambience, The Upper House is the latest offering in boutique hotels on Hong Kong Island, located in Pacific Place. Rooms start on the 38th floor and with just 40 of them, you can really treat your group to an intimate boutique experience.

October 2008 saw the opening of Hong Kong's trendiest new property, The W Hotel. Located in Hong Kong's new financial district on Kowloon side, The W has DJ's spinning decks in the lobby, the beautiful rooftop pool is called 'Wet' and the high tech gym is called 'Sweat'. In 2009, two new Hyatt Regency properties opened in Kowloon, in Tsim Sha Tsui and in Shatin. The 381 room Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui hotel offers harbour views and direct access to the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station located in the basement of the building. For those looking to host delegates close to a university, the 481 room Hyatt Regency Hong Kong, Sha Tin is situated adjacent to the Chinese University offering direct access to Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong Island, Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau via the Mass Transit Railway (MTR).

Tall Ship Sailing Aboard the Bounty
