Sanya, Hainan Island in China, will welcome a brand new property on July 1st - The Intercontinental Sanya Resort.

Said to be an eco-friendly resort, the InterContinental Sanya Resort sits on a sprawling 130,000m2 of space and is sandwiched between the beach and scenic mountains.

It features 343 rooms, including 24 beachside villas, each of which comes with an outdoor dining area, a private pool, a pool deck, an outdoor shower and a sheltered cabana with daybed. Resort facilities include eight restaurants and bars, a health and fitness centre and a spa. The resort is some 15 minutes from Sanya city and 25 minutes from Sanya Phoenix International Airport.

IHG now has 18 properties under the InterContinental brand in China, including one in Hangzhou and Suzhou that will open this year.
