On Monday 8^th March, 2010, Pacific World China proudly organized the largest ever tented seated dinner in the Forbidden City in Beijing, on behalf of a US financial client, with 713 guests in attendance. The event was supported by over 800 staff, incorporating 320 catering staff and over 350 entertainers, including the Beijing Philharmonic Orchestra, a 40 piece drum band, and a closing act performed by Lionel Richie.

Pacific World China rose to the challenge of meeting the client’s desire to hold an incredible gala dinner in the Forbidden City, an open-air venue, in the middle of a Beijing winter. Sub-zero temperatures and a snow storm weren’t stopping anybody enjoying this feat, as Pacific World set to work without any heavy lifting equipment, as it is prohibited within the Forbidden City, to build a gigantic transparent marquee, allowing the guests to enjoy the imperial surroundings.

Richard Rheindorf, Country Manager for Pacific World China, said “This was one of the most exciting events ever done in the Forbidden City and for sure the largest tented event within its walls. We not only had to build a large transparent marquee but one to withstand the unusual subfreezing temperatures and heavy snowfall.”

21/09/2009 - Pacific World accepts Award for Best DMC

Pacific World won its second “Best Destination Management Company” award this year, at the recent 2009 Sabah Tourism Awards, held on Saturday 21st November in Kota Kinabalu.

The award recognized Pacific World Destination East Borneo as the best DMC in 2009 for its positive contribution to growing Sabah’s reputation as a key global MICE destination. Pacific World Destination East’s Area Manager for Borneo and Kuala Lumpur, Aina Lai, was delighted to accept the award on behalf of Pacific World’s Borneo office, “We are thrilled to receive this prestigious award. I am very proud of my team and very pleased that their hard work has paid off. It’s their great teamwork that has made it possible.”

Earlier this year, the Pacific World DMC Network also accepted the award for “Best DMC in Asia”, as voted by CEI Magazine readers for the second year running.

Pacific World Destination East operates four offices throughout Malaysia, in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi and Kota Kinabalu, Borneo. In 2009, Pacific World Destination East celebrated its 20th year in operation.
